Creer en Mojácar

Hace unos años supe que no todo lo había hecho mal en esta vida. Y esa certeza la tengo desde el día que mis hijos, aún demasiado jóvenes pero prácticamente acabando sus carreras, me dijeron que ellos querían vivir en Mojácar, que querían estudiar aquello que les valiese para poder ejercer en su pueblo, en la tierra que han aprendido a querer para lo bueno y para lo malo, gobierne quien gobierne. La tierra de sus amigos, de sus padres, de sus abuelos, una tierra de la que siempre les hemos contado que es generosa en oportunidades porque es imposible que un lugar donde brilla tanto el sol no florezca cualquier idea.

Mis hijos fueron el principal motivo por el que hace cuatro años decidí participar en la fundación de Unión Mojaquera, el partido con el que este año vuelvo a presentarme a la Alcaldía de Mojácar. No me malinterpreten. No quiero un sueldo, no busco un trabajo bien remunerado. No me hace falta ni chófer, ni coche oficial y, sobre todo, yo no llego a la política para quedarme, sino para abrir camino.

Si los que vienen detrás, nuestros hijos, quieren tener la oportunidad de quedarse en su tierra es nuestra responsabilidad como padres, como mayores, como ciudadanos, actuar hoy para garantizarles una Mojácar con futuro.

Es hoy cuando tenemos que involucrarnos todos, hablemos castellano, inglés, francés o alemán, en un proyecto conjunto y tangible. En una tarea de menos palabrería y más hechos. Con menos promesas, más horas de trabajo voluntario de todos y menos gasto público en estupideces que sólo alimentan el ego de algunos políticos, de políticos que necesitan del dinero de los demás para intentar tapar sus limitaciones intelectuales.

Mojácar es una tierra de emprendedores, el punto donde nació el turismo de Almería. Aquí surgieron los grandes empresarios, las grandes ideas. Si viajabas al extranjero, al Reino Unido, sobre todo, conocían dos cosas fundamentales de España, a Seve Ballesteros y Mojácar.

Cuando mis compañeros me preguntan por dónde debemos empezar la reconstrucción, porque hay que reconstruir, siempre les digo que el pilar no es de cemento ni de alquitrán, que no se trata de edificios ni de carreteras, de mayor o de menor presupuesto, sino de creer en Mojácar.

Nunca recuperaremos el espíritu de Mojácar si no creemos en ella. Nunca saldremos del bache de los últimos ocho años si no somos capaces de ilusionar al entorno para que se lancen a emprender. Y nunca conseguiremos emprender sin antes entender que no es una tarea exclusivamente de los jóvenes, sino de todos.

Se puede emprender abriendo una cafetería, un despacho de abogados o una tienda, pero también aportando tu experiencia vital para beneficio de la comunidad, como voluntario, como mentor, como persona que sencillamente facilita contactos para que otros puedan desarrollar su modelo de emprendimiento.

Mi idea de Mojácar no se basa en un puerto deportivo, que entiendo que es necesario, o en mejores comunicaciones, que son fundamentales. Mi idea de Mojácar parte de una base mucho más fuerte que el hormigón del pilar de un puente.

Mi idea de Mojácar parte de la fuerza de la comunidad, de las sinergias que entre todos somos capaces de generar y que hasta ahora no han sido aprovechadas para crear un modelo de emprendimiento colectivo en el que todos seamos partícipes de lo que hace o deja de hacer un ayuntamiento, porque se trata de entender a la administración como algo tuyo, un elemento que juega a tu lado, en tu equipo, y no en tu contra como ocurre ahora.

Vivo convencido de que unidos hacemos más Mojácar, de que unidos es más fácil emprender y de que si emprendemos generamos empleo. Y con ello bienestar, y con ello salud.

Y si me lo permiten lo de hablar de política lo dejamos para otro momento que yo hoy prefiero hablar de personas y de objetivos, de Mojácar y de los mojaqueros, ya hayan nacido aquí o en Dover o Calais, en Londres, París, Roma o Bucarest



Believing in Mojácar

A few years ago I knew that I had done something right in my life, I had that certainty since the day my children still too young but ending their High School education told me that they wanted to live in Mojácar when they grew up. They wanted to go to University and study a career that would enable them to work in their home town the land they learned to love for better or for worse and regardless of who ever are in government, the land of their friends their parents and grandparents, a land full of opportunities because it is impossible for an idea not to blossom where the sun shines.
My children were the main reason why I decided to participate in the founding of Union Mojaquera four years ago; the party through which I stand once more as candidate for Mayor this year. Don’t misunderstand me: I don’t want a salary; I am not looking for a well-paid job. I don’t need a driver or an official car. Above all, I am not getting into politics to stay, but to lead the way.
If those behind us, our children, want to be able to stay in their homeland it is our responsibility as parents, as adults, as citizens to act today to guarantee them a future in Mojácar.
We have a responsibility to get involved in this project, whether we speak Spanish, English, French or German, this is a joint project; a task of less talking and more doing, less promises and more volunteer work, less government spending on stupidities that only feed the ego of some politicians who need the money of others to try to cover their intellectual limitations.
Mojácar is a land of entrepreneurs, the point where tourism was born in the Almeria province. This is where big business and big ideas were born. If you travelled abroad - especially to the United Kingdom, there were two fundamental things they knew about Spain: Seve Ballesteros and Mojácar.
When my colleagues ask me where we should start rebuilding, (because we have to rebuild), I always tell them that a pillar is not concrete or tar, that it is not about buildings or roads; a larger or smaller budget. The pillar is to believe in Mojácar.
We will never recover the spirit of Mojácar if we don’t believe in it. We will never get out of the doldrums of the past eight years if we are not able to excite those around us to launch themselves on an enterprise, but we must understand, first and foremost, that it is not a task exclusively of young people, but of all.It could be the opening of a cafe, a law firm or a shop, but also contributing your life experience to benefit the community as a volunteer, mentor or as someone who simply facilitates contacts for others to develop their entrepreneurial model.
My idea of Mojácar is not based on a marina, though I understand it is necessary; or better communications which are fundamental, my idea of Mojácar starts from a solid foundation much stronger than the concrete base of the main pillar of a bridge. This idea comes from the strength of our community, the synergies we can generate together, which up to now have not been used to create a model of collective endeavour in which we are all partakers of what does or does not make a Council, something that should play by your side, be on your team, and not against you, as what is happening now.
I am convinced that together we can make a better Mojácar; that together it’s easier to undertake an enterprise and that we can generate employment, and with that, wellbeing and health.
And if I may, let’s talk about politics another time, today I prefer to talk about people and objectives, Mojácar and Mojaqueros, whether they were born here, in Calais or Dover; London, Paris, Rome or Bucharest.
